Groundbreaking Diabetes research begins here.
THE HEBREW UNIVERSITY OF JERUSALEM

The Hebrew University together with the renown Hubrecht Insititute of Utrecht have started a multi-year research project to investigate the dynamic of betacells and their regeneration in April 2010. Its results possibly hold the key for a cure for Diabetes Type 1 and Type 2. Please contact us for more information via info@nvhu.nl.

Seeding the World begins here.

THE HEBREW UNIVERSITY OF JERUSALEM

At a time when population growth and climate changes strain the earth's resources, seeding the world has never been more vital to our planet's future.

Scientists at Hebrew University's Robert H. Smith Institute for Plant Sciences are combining state-of-the-art agricultural research with classic greenhouse techniques to develop robust new varieties of produce. By improving seeds, researchers have created hearty hybrid peppers whose advantages include quality, high yield and a longer growing season.

Pioneering work from the Hebrew University has also extended the shelf life of tomatoes, helping Israel to become the world's leading developer of tomato seeds!

Treatment for Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease begins here.
THE HEBREW UNIVERSITY OF JERUSALEM

Life-saving medical breakthroughs for your family begin at the Hebrew Unviersity of Jerusalem, where the Alzheimer drug 'Exelon' was developed.

New drugs and drug delivery systems to fight Alzheimer's, as well as Parkinson's, cancer, diabetes and AIDS. Leadership in embryonic stem cell research. These innovations will have powerful implications today and will improve the quality of life for generations to come - and are all happening at Israel's finest institution of higher learning and research.

At Hebrew University's Interdisciplinary Center for Neural Computation, one of the world's formost centers for brain research, experts have developed a robotic arm controlled directly by thought, and discovered that deep brain stimulation can alleviate Parkinson's symptoms.

Whether by creating microchips modeled on nerve cells, or mapping unexplored regions of the brain, Hebrew University scientists are boldly advancing human knowledge.

Clean Water begins here.
THE HEBREW UNIVERSITY OF JERUSALEM

As farmers around the world face acute fresh water shortages, they sometimes resort to irrigating their crops with wastewater from factories and homes. But by using contaminated water, farmers are literally poisoning the earth with chemicals and pollutants.

That's why scientists at The Robert H. Smith Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment have developed eco-friendly ways to extract biohazards from water and soil. These experts - who also invented drip irrigation - are assuring that Israel remains agriculturally storng while upholding the world's highest standards for wastewater purity.

Protecting and conserving our planet's resources is just one aspect of the pioneering work being done by The Robert H. Smith Faculty, where Hebrew University scientists are boosting crop yield, developing nutrient-enriched foods and working to achieve abundance and good health for Israel and for people on every continent.
